Will Learns to Draw

After we read a book, oftentimes we give children at preschool a blank piece of paper to illustrate and write down a thought or two about the story.  Some children have difficulty knowing where to start.  Hence, I found this awesome little drawing book online and proceeded to do with the preschool children when we rotated through centers last week.

I had Will's group.  The Blue Triangles.  They were drawing away.  I was very impressed with their work.  Will was sitting at the opposite end from me at a rectangular table so I couldn't really see what he was drawing.  I was excited to see his work when I got home.

Here's the first charming little pig.  I think he forgot the ears, but that's neither here nor there.

Next comes the chicken.  "Cute," I think.  I notice a little mistake at the bottom, but I don't mind it.  He's five after all.

At the cat picture I start to wonder, "What are there three little droplets under kitty's bum?"

By the time I see the cow, it is clear.  Will has drawn most of his animals pooping.

Maybe he has a future illustrating veterinary journals.  As God as my witness, I will foster this talent.

Relatively New Additions

Back in February, somewhere around Will's birthday, he was able to pick out three fish as a present from his family.  The result has been a trio of lovely, peaceful creatures in our family room.  We set up our tank and waited days for the water to be ready temperature wise and chemical wise.  Here is a picture of the new aquatic center.

The coolest part is that it glows in the dark.  Check it out.

Even cooler the fish glow.

Our fellas are named Octavious, Red Bullet (after Will's coaster bike bequeathed to him from BFF Ethan) and for the love of me I can't remember the last one.  Wait for it.  Texting spouse.  It really doesn't matter because the little bugger hides in the cave all the time.  I couldn't even find him for the photo spread.

Flasher!  Thanks.  Also, per our aquatics manager (a/k/a Kev-bo) "He [Flasher] hides in the bottom of the cave.  Doesn't eat much."

If he shows himself and I am so inclined I will snap a shot of him and add it later.

Welcome boys.  Hold on tight it's going to be a bumpy ride.

'Ello. Anybody out there?

Contrary to popular belief, I have not dropped off the blogisphere.  Yes, I am dangling.  Holding on for dear life and trying to get my foot hold.  Hopefully I am rallying back to life.

I am currently taking an online classes on Technology.  I had to create a 30 second video using Animoto.  Check it out.

Spoiler:  30 seconds is really, really short.  There's no time for popcorn.  Don't even put it in the microwave.  The clip will be over long before the popping slows down.

I would have embedded the video in this post, but I had to upgrade from the free version.  So 'not gonna do it.

Wow.  I sound so much more tech savvy than I did two weeks ago.

I recognize that the photo of Kevin and I seems obstructed by random ebb and flow of the pre-fab ocean background.  If I was tech savvy enough to fix it, I would.

Move Over Pablo

Picasso that is.

When Kevin's co-worker texted and asked me to take a painting class at Michael's, of course I answered, "Sure!  Why not?"

On Sunday we showed up with painting supplies in hand to discover that our nice, 4-walled, private painting class room had been doubled booked for a kid birthday party, so we got the boot.  Where to you might ask?

If you have ever been to a Michael's, picture the knitting department, rows of pretty and ugly yarns, knitting supplies and patterns, and then a fold out table with two novice painters and a teacher whom we can't keep up with.

"What are you doing?"  "Wait, slow down.  How'd you do that?"

After directing a few customers to cellophane and then frames, here is what I created.  I'm kind of proud of it.  Not bad for two hours in the knitting section.

Elasti-Girl...I Mean Woman

On our last trip to Disney World we had to choose an identity.  I was Elasti-Girl from the Disney movie of which the name I cannot recall where the super heroes are retired and living as a regular family and then called back into service and the wife is Elasti-Girl and was Holly Hunter's voice and they had three kids and John Goodman may have been the voice of the husband or may not have been......still don't know the name.

Anyone who knows me well, knows that the name Elasti-Girl suits.  I can bend my fingers back way past the point of what seems "normal".  Many "ohhs" and "yucks" have been elicited when I straightened out my arms.  There really is no point in which they would be considered straight.

I have always been this way; over-bending my way through life.

Turns out there is a name for it.  "Hyper flexible"  That's right people.  No worries from me.  I take things in stride all the time because I am HYPER FLEXIBLE baby.  Or at least my physical therapist thinks so.  Or at least my joints are.  Maybe joints can help me become more hyper flexible in other ways.  Wait, I am digressing.

Remember my hip problem?  Remember my self-diagnosis?  Remember I was wrong?  No you wouldn't remember that because I haven't posted anything about it because it is hard to type on your blog when you are curled up in the corner rocking back and forth and praying for spring and sunshine.  Now I am coming clean.  I was wrong.  It turns out my hip (SI) joint was pivoted out of place due in part to my hyper flexibility.

At my ten therapy sessions, John pushed and popped my hip back into place and has provided me with a lovely SI joint girdle and a list of exercises to do to strengthen my core.  There was a very strange moment when he was diagnosing me that he held my joint together and then asked me to recreate the pain and I couldn't.  I thought he was a rock star at that moment.

After 4-6 weeks, hopefully I will feel some relief.  It does feel different.  It is better because I don't have the pull and strain down my leg of my hamstring, but worse because it hurts inside the joint.  I try to be diligent with the exercises.  If you see me on the street, tell me to do my planks, bridges and such.

I am happy to be making progress.  It turns out my two year pulled muscle was actually my skeleton coming apart.  No big woop.  You know me, I just take things in stride.

Uh Happy?

Gheez Sister Dianne...get off my back.

Now I have to be harrassed by you via the web.

There.
