Life here is going down the Toilet

I guess it was inevitable. My three boys have potty mouths. Underwear....diapers....toilet.....bums...

You name it and it has been said around here lately. At least most "G" rated terms for anything private.

Ethan and Ben disappeared one day and returned covered in diapers and underwear.
They think they are hysterical.

Will followed suit.

Apparently the boys are calling upon the spirit of their Pap Pap Ernie who was in fact a sailor and had his own unique chain of swear words that would appear over and over in the midst of frustration.

It is a right of passage. A stepping stone in life.

Whatever my little men....do what you have to do to make life have a more flavor. I will try to look the other way and mutter my own select words under my breath in order to survive this phase.

Vacation Shots

We logged 1500 miles on the minivan! We had a fabulous vacation. Much thanks to Kevin who said, "Hey I think I saved enough money that we could go to the beach." Me, "Really?"

Ethan, Will and Ben were all terrific travelers. Of course, there was very little sleeping in the car. Will finally fell asleep after 5 1/2 hours to Philadelphia. He nodded off the last 20 minutes, but I'm not complaining.

We visited Sesame Place for the day and played on the water slides and in the pool. Ethan and Ben even rode the roller coaster. Afterwards Will cried because he said, "I wanna go Elmo's World again."

Three boys in a sand hole in Cape May, New Jersey.

We climbed 199 steps to the top of the Cape May light house. I walked out on the ledge, saw Grandpa below and screamed......"GRANDPA" only to hear a chorus of "No yelling." Oops. My bad. So what if I was standing under the sign.

We were the only passengers aboard the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad. It was a 45 minute ride. What's the matter people, "Heat Warning" scare you away? Okay, it was a bit hot in the 97 degree weather, but it was well worth it.

After a week at the beach we trekked to Long Island to visit a dear friend from college. We spent Father's Day sailing on Long Island Sound and then Ethan and Ben enjoyed their first ever convertible ride.

We are all happy to be home again, safe and sound, but we sure had fun.

Photos From The Road

Ahh the Life of Leisure

How can it be that being at the beach can be so exhausting?

We eat. We sleep. We go to the beach. We rest.

We get up and do it all again.

I could get used to this my friend.

S-U-M-M-E-R

Congratulations to Ethan, my big second grader!

Yesterday was the last day of school. After two whole hours of school (seems like we just dropped him off!) Ethan rode the bus home along with our neighbor's granddaughter who got off the bus and changed her shoes stating to her grandmother, "My mom said I could have a play date."

And thus we did. She, her sister, and the boys snacked, snacked and snacked some more. Then they played outside in the sandbox.

It reminds me of the story of my older brother Jay who brought home six of his friends on the bus from school and declared to my mom, "They are here for my birthday party." However, he neglected to inform my mother of this in advance. Luckily, she is a go with the flow kind of gal and put a couple of extra cups of water in the spaghetti sauce. Ha ha.

Being flexible comes in handy when raising children. This we know.

Overheard in the Backseat

Ben: Mom, what does it mean when people have flags on their houses?

Mom: Well, I guess it means that they are proud of their country.

Ben: We're not proud of our country, right Mom? We're proud of ALL the countries.

Words of my very sensitive son who cares deeply about the feelings of others......even countries.
